Exploring Uncharted Sonic Landscapes with The Trio Dalì

The Trio Dalì – formed by Enrico Cossio (oboe), Marko Jugovic (vibraphone), and myself (cello) – stands out for its originality and power to surprise. The ensemble itself — a rare combination of oboe, cello, and vibraphone — is a bold artistic statement, signaling a clear intention to break from tradition and explore uncharted sonic landscapes.

The concert, scheduled for 2 August at 5:30 PM in Forni di Sotto, is conceived as a journey through time and style, where Baroque music enters into dialogue with contemporary works and original compositions. Opening the program is Bach’s Trio Sonata BWV 525, reimagined with a striking new timbral palette — the familiar counterpoint enlivened by the shimmering resonance of the vibraphone.

This journey continues with music of rare intensity and character: North Adams by Oene van Geel, a compelling conversation between cello and vibraphone; La cigale et la fourmi, a miniature gem for solo oboe by Antal Doráti; and Gaucho Charrùa by Pérez Tedesco, an emotionally charged and visually evocative work for vibraphone and multi-percussion. The lyrical spirit returns in Sea Whales Jig, a poetic dance for solo cello.

At the heart of the program are my original works: Ossi di seppia and Peace, which tap into the ensemble’s full expressive range, blending introspection, rhythmic vitality, and sonic exploration.

The concert concludes with the serene beauty of Bach’s aria Jesus ist ein guter Hirt, bringing the journey to a reflective close.

Each piece is chosen with purpose, weaving a conversation among distinct instrumental voices and achieving a delicate balance of lyricism, rhythm, and experimentation — the very essence of Trio Dalì’s artistic vision.
