Tonight we inaugurate the first edition of Festival Biancospino — a musical journey rooted in the heart of Gualdo Tadino, a town embraced by the singular beauty of the Valsorda in Umbria, which I have had the joy of calling home since last year.
The festival draws its name and inspiration from the miracle of the Hawthorn of Blessed Angelo, a timeless symbol of community and hope for the people of Gualdo Tadino. Through music, my intention is to honour this legacy — to celebrate the profound bond between the land, its natural landscape, and the enduring spirit of its people.

This evening we open the festival with a group of exceptional young musicians, whose vitality and artistry embody the very spirit of Festival Biancospino — an encounter between music, place and shared emotion. In the days ahead, a rich programme of concerts will inhabit the town’s most evocative historic settings, transforming them into spaces of harmony, reflection and connection.
More than a festival, Biancospino is an invitation: to listen, to gather, and to rediscover beauty in the dialogue between tradition, nature and contemporary expression. Like the hawthorn of the miracle of Blessed Angelo, which blossoms in the heart of winter, it carries a message of resilience and renewal — a reminder that art, like nature, flourishes even in the quietest seasons.
My sincere gratitude goes to Fondazione Perugia for their trust and generous support, to the Municipality of Gualdo Tadino for their collaboration and commitment, and to Associazione Blanc for their steadfast belief in this project.
Let the Biancospino Music Festival begin. 🌿
