Il violoncellista-compositore italiano Riccardo Pes ha viaggiato dall'Italia al nord dell'Inghilterra per suonare la sua composizione, "Lament for the Tree", al Sycamore Gap. L'albero amato e famoso in tutto il mondo è stato scoperto abbattuto il 29 settembre e, appresa la tragica notizia, Pes ha annullato i suoi impegni e ha preso il primo volo per Londra per raggiungere il luogo per rendergli omaggio e salutarlo.

Reaching the stump of the Sycamore Gap Tree was no easy feat. As I journeyed through the landscapes of Northumberland, I encountered numerous challenges along the way. From national strike to unpredictable weather each obstacle tested my determination. This documentary captures not only the physical hurdles but also the and resilience found in nature.

Podcast that reflects on the legacy of the beloved tree, felled victim of vandalism. It features various interviews of people sharing their connection with the tree. The LAMENT FOR THE TREE by Riccardo Pes has been used as the soundtrack of this podcast.

Determined to honor the tree, on Friday, October 6th, he embarked on a journey from Italy, cello in tow. After landing in London, he knew he had a daunting task ahead. Pes braced himself for the long journey to the North of England and then the solitary hike in the hills of Northumberland Park to get to the tree, dragging his cello along. Those of us who play the instrument know what carrying the bulky beast is like, but Pes’s trek was complicated not only by pouring rain and driving winds but also by a rail strike. Nonetheless, he was able to take 4 trains to Haltwhistle where he’d hoped to board a bus. None were in sight.
